| 04.05.2025Vancouver Island University (commonly known as Malaspina University–College, and formerly Malaspina College) is a Canadian public community university operating on Vancouver Island and the coastal region of British Columbia. Established in 1969 as Malaspina College, the institution has grown into a university that plays a vital role in the region’s education, culture, and economy. Its main campus is located in Nanaimo, with additional campuses in Duncan and Powell River, and a center in Parksville.
Vancouver Island University offers Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, 2-year college diplomas, and 1-year vocational certificates in a wide range of fields including Business, Education, Tourism and Hospitality, Science and Engineering, Arts and Design and Performing Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
With programs in 17 disciplines, areas of study include English, Anthropology, Economics, History, International Studies, Communications, Psychology, Career and Technical Training, Trades and Applied Technology, as well as Health and Human Services programs offering degrees in Social Work, Nursing, and more.
